Team JAWS - Jake's Army of Walkers

Jake was a wonderful young man who had his life ahead of him when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2016. His infectious smile and wicked sense of humour ensured that once you met Jake, you’d never forget him.

Young Lives vs Cancer provided Jake and his family with fantastic support during his illness and fundraising for the charity is a fitting way to remember Jake.

Our Story

Team JAWS was established to raise money in memory of Jake Whiteside who sadly passed away after a short battle with cancer in 2017 at the age of 16. The initial event that the team undertook was the Isle of Wight Challenge where over £25,000 was raised for Young Lives vs Cancer (formerly CLIC Sargent).

Five years on from the original event we once again took on the Isle of Wight Challenge, a 65 mile continuous walk around the island.

Subsequent events have been undertaken and to date the team has raised almost £100,000.

In 2020 the team became an official Voluntary Fundraising Group for Young Lives vs Cancer and we continue to promote the fantastic work that the charity provides to children and young adults who are going through treatment for cancer.
