Our Story
Poppi was always a happy, and healthy child. It wasn’t until 2022, we started noticing Poppi was struggling with pain in her legs and hips, and had developed a limp. After countless hospital and doctor visits, with everyone saying she was okay, Poppi’s pain became unbearable and she could barely walk. This was when we found out that she had a cancer called Ewing Sarcoma.
Hearing this was so heart breaking as a family, we have always been close and couldn’t get over the fear of losing her at such a young age. Poppi was only 11 years old when she was diagnosed, and pretty early on we found out it was terminal and that we just needed to spend time together and make memories where we could.
After the diagnosis we were really lost as a family. We all spent countless days apart and took turns to go on all hospital visits. It wasn’t until we had contact with Young Lives vs Cancer that we felt a bit more at ease. The charity really helped us to make memories by providing us with holidays, a room makeover and spending money, were just a few to say the least. These provided Pops with a smile that had been gone for so long.
Poppi sadly lost her battle to cancer on 2nd February 2024. Ever since we have lost our Pops everyone has collectively wanted to show the charity how much they have meant to us, and hopefully provide another family with the same love and support we received in such dark times.
We have since organised some charity events such as sponsored walks, charity boxing matches, charity football matches and a sky dive. We are hoping to do more and would love to have a page where everyone can keep Pops memory alive.
Love you lots Pops 💜
