Maddison's Story
Maddison was only 5 years old when she became unwell in October 2024, unfortunately, she was diagnosed with a brain tumour just before Christmas.
The tumour Maddison had was a rare and very complicated case. Due to this, she went through many MRI and scans, and two operations before she was diagnosed with cancer.
Even then, the doctors couldn't determine what type of brain cancer it was.
She began her first round of chemotherapy in February, which she couldn't manage to finish, as she became very unwell.
Maddison spent 10 days in the PICU before she sadly passed away at the end of February 2025.
Maddison was always a very happy and loving little girl; she made so many people laugh and had a very caring and playful personality.
Maddison was born premature at 26 weeks + 6 days and faced many challenges medically, and stayed so strong throughout and as positive as she could be.
Maddison was so excited for her birthday, which would have been on the 13th of May. She always shared this with her twin sister, who loves and misses her so much.
We would like to raise money and help other children and young people with cancer who are also sadly going through the cancer journey, by raising money in Maddison's name and also to keep Maddison's memory alive.
I have chosen Young Lives vs Cancer to raise funds for because whilst in hospital we met a lovely social worker called Laura who works with this charity, in just a short period of time she's supported us in different ways and continued with her support after Maddison's passing.
I'm hoping that by raising funds, I can give some help and support to other families going through similar situations.
