Erin's Story

Erin’s journey started in August 2010 when we discovered Erin was constantly developing unexplained bruises. After numerous tests and bone marrow biopsies, Erin was diagnosed in September 2010 with Aplastic anaemia. She had a successful bone marrow transplant on March 2011. She never once complained and always had a smile on her face.

“Unfortunately, in 2022 Erin showed signs her bone marrow was failing and after repeating all the tests we got the news we never imagined we would hear again. Erin had relapsed. She received a bone marrow top up from her original donor, which unfortunately only lasted nine months. She started high-dose chemo and radiotherapy and received another bone marrow transplant in June 2024 which quickly showed great success.

“The happiness didn’t last long and unfortunately, at Christmas she developed a post-transplant infection and pneumocystis pneumonia. She was admitted to intensive care on Boxing Day 2024 and lost her fight on 8th January. She was 20 years old.
